Now that I'm back with a vengeance as a media monitor with Fingers of Fire, I get to hear all the useless Hollywood rubbish that makes it into legitimate news broadcasts as if it were somehow of purpose to the general public. I have been particularly enraged these last two days to see media outlets feigning patronising sympathy for Britney Spears, who is apparently locked up in a padded cell at a psychiatric hospital in LA. Why this is any of our business is beyond me.

I have to say, I really feel sorry for poor Brit-Brit. It drives me crazy to read all these unfeeling comments from people just loving the idea that the People's Pop Star has entered a gale force vacuum of self destruct. It's all very well and good for them, hiding behind their anonymous screens, to heap judgement and abuse on a girl who has hardly known anything OTHER than finding validation in herself through how much mass exposure she meets.

Anyway, I wrote this article a little while ago for New Matilda and NM's esteemed editor Rachel Hills contacted me today to tell me it is now online. It's been slightly edited over at their site, with a couple of missing links so, as always, I shall reproduce below.
